LOCAL MAKERS is a broad initiative challenging PBS stations and partners across the country to find the women in their communities who are making a difference. Stations engaged their audiences through projects tailored to the needs of their own communities, building LOCAL MAKERS projects to include activities such as: digital storytelling workshops, screening and discussion events with partners and local productions.

Stations were able to access an extensive network of strategic partnerships, which drove the community engagement efforts at the grassroots level and extended the reach of all project activities. Partners included universities, museums, schools, youth media groups, historical associations and libraries.

To meet some of these women and see their work in their local communities check out the PBS Local Makers YouTube Channel and look for them on your local PBS station.
